Translator William Scott Wilson studied and translated to English a manuscript based on the understanding of how to live life properly by a Samurai called Yamamoto Tsunetomo.
The book called Hagakure was written by a young samurai who visited Tsunetomo and registered the conversations about life that he frequently had with the older samurai. Each chapter invites the reader to slow down and appreciate the moment a little deeper.
It is said that the legendary Zen Buddhist priest Tannen who was known as the personification of the tenacity of spirit, honor, and values, met Yamamoto Tsunetomo and claimed that the samurai attained the core fundamentals of Zen quite quickly.
