I think that LinkedIn can be a different case. But for some people, it isn't.

For many people LinkedIn is a way to be seen and get popularity. So they right a lot and are very diligent writing articles. But soon it becomes evident that they are not interested in anything else but making these pots and getting attention.

For a user that acts like this the LinkedIn experience can feel a lot like self masturbation.
