So I agree with you here, but I belive that the energy use of Bitcoin is not wasted, is to prove a poind that we can create a robust unhackable digital monetary system.

Once the experiment is over we will cut this energy use gradually until we are left with an efficient, secure and solit digital monetary system that is sustainable. (Unlike gold, for contrast)
